Temper Conditions Available

  • A (Solution Annealed): Soft, formable condition for complex forming operations prior to age hardening
  • HM (Mill Hardened — Medium): Partially hardened for applications requiring moderate strength and formability
  • HT (Mill Hardened — Full Hard): Maximum strength condition for direct use in springs and contacts without further heat treatment
  • AT (Age Hardened from Annealed): Peak strength achieved through precipitation hardening

Age Hardening (Precipitation Hardening) BeCu wire in the annealed condition can be age hardened at 315°C–340°C for 2–3 hours to achieve maximum tensile strength and hardness. This process is performed after forming to lock in the component geometry while developing full mechanical properties.

Wire Drawing Process Our Beryllium Copper Wire is precision cold-drawn through tungsten carbide dies to achieve tight diameter tolerances (typically ±0.005mm on fine sizes), excellent surface finish, and consistent mechanical properties throughout the spool length — critical for automated assembly processes.

Applications of Beryllium Copper Wire

Electronic Springs & Contacts BeCu wire is the gold standard for precision electronic springs, contact fingers, and leaf springs in connectors, switches, and relay assemblies. Its combination of high spring-back, fatigue resistance, and electrical conductivity ensures long service life in high-cycle switching applications.

Connector & Terminal Manufacturing Beryllium Copper wire is drawn, stamped, and formed into electrical connectors and terminals for automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial control systems — where contact reliability over millions of cycles is critical.

Aerospace & Defence Components Used in aircraft avionics connectors, aerospace relay springs, guidance system contacts, and military-grade connectors that must withstand vibration, temperature extremes, and demanding mechanical cycling.

EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Wire BeCu wire is used as an electrode material in EDM operations due to its excellent electrical conductivity, consistent diameter, and thermal properties — enabling precision machining of hardened tool steels and exotic alloys.

Probe Pins & Test Sockets Beryllium Copper is the preferred material for semiconductor test probe pins and IC socket contacts, where spring force consistency, electrical performance, and wear resistance over millions of insertions are essential.

Medical Devices & Instruments BeCu wire is used in precision surgical instruments, dental tools, and diagnostic equipment where non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant, high-strength wire is required.

Telecommunications Used in SIM card contacts, antenna spring contacts, RF connectors, and precision coiled springs for telecommunications hardware — where consistent contact force and signal integrity are critical.

Non-Sparking Safety Tools Wire forms and components fabricated from BeCu are used in hazardous and explosive environments (oil & gas, mining, chemical plants) where non-sparking tooling and hardware are mandated by safety regulations.

Precision Winding & Coil Springs BeCu wire is wound into precision coil springs for instrumentation, cameras, medical devices, and defence systems — valued for fatigue resistance and predictable spring characteristics across temperature ranges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What diameter range is available for Beryllium Copper Wire from Domadia? Domadia stocks Beryllium Copper Wire in diameters from 0.1mm to 4.0mm. All sizes are available in UNS C17200 (Alloy 25) and supplied on 1kg spools. Intermediate sizes and custom diameters are available on request — contact our team with your specification.

Q2. What international standards does your Beryllium Copper Wire comply with? Our wire complies with ASTM B197, AMS 4725, UNS C17200, SAE J461, SAE J463, DIN 2.1247, and CW101C (EN), among others. Full mill test certificates and material certifications are supplied with every order.

Q3. What temper conditions are available? We supply BeCu wire in solution annealed (A), mill hardened medium (HM), and mill hardened full hard (HT) tempers. The right temper depends on whether you intend to form the wire before or after hardening — our technical team can advise based on your application.

Q4. Can Beryllium Copper Wire be further heat treated after purchase? Yes. Wire supplied in the solution annealed condition can be age hardened (precipitation hardened) at approximately 315–340°C for 2–3 hours after forming, to achieve maximum tensile strength of up to 1,400 MPa. Mill hardened wire is ready to use directly without further heat treatment.

Q5. Why is Beryllium Copper preferred over phosphor bronze or stainless steel wire for springs and contacts? BeCu offers significantly higher tensile strength than phosphor bronze with better electrical conductivity, and outperforms stainless steel in conductivity and non-magnetic properties. Its fatigue resistance and spring-back characteristics are also superior — making it the preferred choice for high-cycle, high-performance contact and spring applications.

Q6. Is Beryllium Copper Wire safe to handle? Solid BeCu wire in spool form is safe to handle with standard precautions. Beryllium hazards primarily arise from dust or fumes generated during cutting, grinding, or machining. Domadia supplies Safety Data Sheets (SDS) with all shipments, and customers should follow applicable occupational health guidelines when processing BeCu wire.

Q7. What is the minimum order quantity? Domadia supplies from a single 1kg spool, making our wire accessible for prototyping, R&D, and small-batch production as well as large-volume manufacturing orders. Contact us for volume pricing on multi-spool orders.

Q8. Can you supply Beryllium Copper Wire for EDM applications? Yes. BeCu wire is used in EDM operations as an electrode material. We can advise on the appropriate diameter and temper for your specific EDM machine and application requirements.

Q9. Do you supply internationally? Yes. Domadia exports Beryllium Copper Wire to customers across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. We manage all necessary export documentation, certifications, and logistics for international orders.

Q10. How do I get a quote or place an order? Contact Domadia via email, WhatsApp, or phone with your required diameter, temper, quantity, and any certification requirements. We respond promptly with pricing, availability, and lead time.
